New pension rights

New laws come into effect on December 1st 2000 allowing courts to split pensions on divorce. This will make it possible for both parties to share a pension. In many cases this would make it unnecessary to sell assets like the family home. Couples contemplating divorce should hold fire until after 1/12/00, or they may lose out on the new pension rights.
