Local authority help for homeless people

Local authorities have to provide help to some people who are homeless. In order to decide what legal duty it has, a local authority will carry out enquiries to decide if someone is eligible for assistance, legally homeless, or threatened with homelessness, in priority need and not intentionally homeless. In addition, it may investigate whether someone has a local connection.
