Forced marriages.
It is a criminal offence
to force a person to marry under duress. If
a person is afraid that she/he may be forced
into a marriage in this country, or that
someone in this country may be planning to
force her/him into a marriage while s/he is
abroad, the police should be contacted. This
is also the case where there is concern that
another person may be forced into a
marriage.
If the person who has been forced into a
marriage is abroad, someone in the United
Kingdom who is concerned about what has
happened should contact the Foreign and
Commonwealth Office to see if the consul in
the country concerned can provide any help.
