How will the decision be made. When
deciding where the child should live, the
local authority will take into account a
number of points including:-
- the wishes of the parents.
- the wishes of the child.
- the need to place the child near to
her/his home so that s/he can keep in
touch with friends and relatives, if
this will be good for the child.
- Whether or not brothers and sisters
should be kept together.

Divorce
A divorce cannot be applied for until the
couple have been married for at least one
year. There are no exceptions to this rule.
To get divorced in England and Wales, the
marriage must be recognised as valid by
United Kingdom law and one of the partners
must:-
» be living in England or Wales when the
divorce is applied for
» have been living in England or Wales
during the year before the application is
made.
