Child maintenance bonus
The Benefits Agency or Employment Service
can pay a child maintenance bonus of up to
£1,000 to a parent with care who is getting
maintenance for a child or children. The
bonus can be paid when s/he (or her/his
partner, if the partner claims for both of
them) stops claiming income support or
income-based jobseeker's allowance because
s/he starts work, moves from part-time to
full-time work or has a pay increase.
The amount of the bonus is based on how much
child maintenance was paid by the absent
parent while the parent with care was on
income support or income-based jobseeker's
allowance. The child maintenance which the
parent receives can have been arranged
through a child support assessment, by court
order or by voluntary agreement. |
