Applying for a divorce.

The partner who is applying for the divorce is known as the petitioner. The other partner is the respondent.

A person who wants to start divorce proceedings will need to obtain the necessary forms from the court. The court office will tell her/him which forms are needed but court staff are not allowed to give legal advice to either partner or help them complete forms.
